Tour Ouro Preto & Mariana

Get to know more about the Minas Gerais culture by visiting this World Heritage Site. Walk through the old villages and ancient buildings where Europeans, Africans and South American natives gathered to create history, and re-live Brazil's Golden Age.

Ouro Preto and Mariana are located in the hills of Minas Gerais-a region known as Serra do Espinhaço- known for having been the trail of the ancient travellers, who discovered the gold land. During the 17th century, which is considered as the region's ‘Golden Age,' thousands of European explorers came to Minas Gerais.

These cities contain well-preserved colonial architecture with few signs of modern, urban life. Churches decorated with gold and the works of Aleijadinho, a famous artist, sculptor and architect of that time, make Ouro Preto and Mariana, tourist destinations with a remarkable heritage.
