Ora-pro-nobis Festival

Place: Sabará
Sabará is the closest historic city to Belo Horizonte and an importante touristic destination of Minas Gerais. It is well known due to the architecture and also the respectable gastronomy.
The Ora-Pro-Nobis is a vegetable from the family of the cactus that has liefs and big thorns. It is rich in iron and its name means "pray for us" in latin. The chefs commonly use it like the oregano or to produce a flour rich of vitamins.
The festival was created in 1997 and since then it takes place at a traditional neighborhood of Sabará called Pompéu. To optimize the treatment with the tourists the prefecture offers to the exhibitors a workshop to qualify them. It is a great opportunity to gat to know the country side culture of Minas Gerais and taste diferents dishes.
