The Serrana Palace was inaugurated in 1974, and it was the first hotel to cater to the demand of the Minascentro (Exposition Centre).
One of the interesting features of this hotel is its collection of paintings and sculptures from many places and diverse styles. Its first owner, Newton Lima Drumond (who passed away in 2004), was an art appreciator who always kept a part of his own private collection at the hotel. Newton Drumond had a degree in Engineering and Law; he also liked to write romantic novels during his free time.
Now, the hotel is managed by his three daughters, who decided to retain their father's art pieces at the hotel.
The hotel features a piano in the lobby, and guests are encouraged to play it.
The hotel also offers a great infrastructure for business meetings, lectures and social events.
