Hotel Guanabara
Mr. Aldineu Dinoronha
Mr. Aldineu worked for 20 years as manager in a post office in Aimorés, where his four brothers worked as managers too. In 1988 he and his wife moved to Belo Horizonte. In the big city, he spent almost five years looking for a job, but with his age against him he found it difficult to find work. One day, in 1992, he found a newspaper add saying that Guanabara Hotel needed a receptionist and the rest is history.
He remembers clearly "when I came at the hotel, there were at least one hundred people in a line waiting". He stayed in the line for hours, waiting for his interview. Just three were hired, Mr. Aldineu among them. He has been working at the reception desk for more than 16 years.
When Mr. Aldineu was post office manager, he was responsible for the finances, so in the Hotel Guanabara he is responsible for the reception and also for the finances.
Mr Aldineu loves working in the hotel. "It's a pleasant job" he says. In the days off from work he can't stand to be at home doing nothing, and many times he goes to the hotel just to walk and hang out wuith the guests and staff.
