Your Hosts – Patric Cardoso and Neusa Alves
Mrs. Neusa Alves has worked in the hotel industry for 23 years. She started out as a housekeeper in a hotel in Montes Claros, a city in the north of Minas Gerais. The hotel she worked for was known as the ‘Hotel of Artists', because many artists and Brazilian celebrities used to stay there. The hotel was considered the best in the city, and she received great training during her stint there.
The Brasil Palace Hotel has been under her command for the last five years. It was in a bad condition; now, with her effort and with the help of her son, Patric Cardoso, a graduate in tourism, the hotel has improved beyond recognition. Neusa and Patric enjoy working within the hotel and explain that their work has no routine, and that they love meeting different people. They devote themselves completely to the hotel and its patrons, making themselves available 24 hours a day.
The Brasil Palace Hotel awaits you with open arms, making your stay in Belo Horizonte unforgettable!
Staying in one of Belo Horizonte's first buildings offers visitors a unique experience. By keeping the original architecture and preserving the historic integrity of the hotel, we provide a distinct heritage atmosphere for our guests. We are also concerned with environmental sustainability and the wellbeing of our community, which means you can feel safe knowing that we make the effort to be a responsible hotel operator. In order to minimize our power used, we've installed a solar heater and sensors in the lights on the corridor. This has saved 60% in building power. We have also implemented a system to reduce waste water and to recycle and donate materials we no longer need. To help our community we offer employment chances for the elderly and train youths with no prior experience. These practices help create a better, and more sustainable, destination for our guests to enjoy.

Furthermore, the lobby was very neat and gave the impression of a very good establishment. However the room was a disgrace! The matresses were dirty and very old, the sheets were so over-used that you could see right through them. There was a whole next to one of the beds through the outside wall where there was supposed to be an air conditioner. The whole was just covered by a wooden plank, but that did not stop the wind blowing in and the lights from the street shining through.
Even the bathroom was dirty and the shower-curtain was made to hang from a broomstick!
Not even the breakfast was worth getting up for.
This hotel is truly a disgrace to the South American continent and we were all truly appalled."
