The Central Metro Station is also close by, and you can take the metro from here to the Expominas Exhibition Centre, the most modern events and conventions centre in Minas Gerais. The Estação Central also has daily departures of the sole passenger trains in Brazil that head to Espirito Santo's coast. The Amazonas Hotel's building is part of the city heritage. It has already accommodated important politician and artists, among them Juscelino Kubitschek, a Brazilian ex-president of the 50's. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the restaurant and bar boast paintings by Roberto Tatin, a French painter and sculptor.
